LabMath-Indonesia, founded on 1 June 2005, is an independent non-commercial research institute aimed to facilitate the execution of scientific research and to disseminate the results to the community.
Characteristic of the research is the use of advanced mathematical modelling and modern software and simulation tools.

Examples of research areas from the natural, physical and technical sciences are ocean and coastal engineering, seismology for seismic events and hazard mitigation including tsunami hazards,
Examples with societal impact are decision support and operations research for production planning, space syntax, and coastal management.

Funding of research activities will be from national and international research grants and projects, and executed by temporary staff members together with university-students, supervised by experienced senior researchers.
The dissemination of modern mathematical methods and results is aimed both to university and secondary school education and to direct target groups of the research activities.
